Accessibility statement
Last updated: 2026-05-26
CarersDoc is committed to making the platform accessible to as many people as possible, regardless of disability or assistive technology. This statement applies to the CarersDoc platform at all subdomains we operate.
Conformance status
We target WCAG 2.2 level AA conformance across the platform. We believe the platform is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 AA — many surfaces meet the standard but we have not yet had an independent accessibility audit covering every workflow.
[SOLICITOR REVIEW: tighten this to "fully conformant" only after an independent accessibility audit. Until then, "partially conformant" is the honest claim.]
Design choices
- Text colour contrast meets WCAG 2.2 AA minimum (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text).
- Every interactive element is reachable + operable with a keyboard alone.
- Touch targets on the carer-facing mobile flows are at least 44 × 44 CSS pixels.
- Every form input has a visible label, and error messages are linked to the relevant field via aria-describedby.
- Body copy targets a Flesch reading-ease score ≥ 70 to keep the language accessible to non-native English speakers.
- v1 ships English-only. Polish and Romanian carer-facing surfaces — reflecting the languages most spoken by carers working in UK adult social care — are deferred to v1.1 pending professional translation. The substrate is in place; the user-visible release flips on a single config change once the translations land.
Known issues
Self-assessment against WCAG 2.2 AA has not identified specific failures to date. We have not had an independent accessibility audit covering every workflow, so issues we have not detected may exist. If you encounter a barrier, please tell us using the feedback channel below — we will publish it here with our remediation timeline.
[SOLICITOR REVIEW: confirm the "no failures identified to date" framing is acceptable pre-independent-audit. The page commits to publishing specific failures + remediation timeline once they surface — confirm that commitment language is appropriate.]
Assistive technology
We test the platform regularly with VoiceOver (macOS, iOS), TalkBack (Android), and keyboard-only navigation. We support browser zoom up to 200% and respect the operating-system preference for reduced motion + dark mode where applicable.
Feedback
If you find an accessibility barrier or have a suggestion for improvement, please contact us. We aim to respond within 5 working days.
[FOUNDER ACTION + SOLICITOR REVIEW: stand up the accessibility@<your-domain> mailbox before launch; monitor within 5 working days. Solicitor only needs to confirm the 5-working-day response commitment is industry-standard for the audience.]
Enforcement
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can refer the matter to the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS) in the UK.
Preparation of this statement
